Membership

Cherokee Country Club is a private recreational facility that is outlined by attractive homes and condominiums, and is considered the center piece of Cherokee Park. Cherokee Country Club was established in 1964 and the course was designed by architect David Gill. The 18 hole layout weaves beautifully through protected wetlands for a peaceful, secluded golf experience. Cherokee is manicured to PGA Tour standards, which is why numerous professionals, including Steve Stricker, like to call Cherokee their home club.

For more information or to schedule your membership presentation and tour, contact Larry Tiziani at (608) 249-1000 ext. 124 or email ltiziani@cherokeecountryclub.net.

Golf Courses

Cherokee offers a unique 10 course yardage design that can be played from 1900 yards to 7500 yards and anywhere in between. This design will accommodate golfers of any skill level. Each course has its very own slope and rating.

Instruction

Lesson Programs

The Wisconsin PGA has recognized the Cherokee staff for "Teachers of the Year" four times. Dennis Tiziani was acknowledged 1989 and 1997. Larry Tiziani was acknowledged 1994 and 1998.

Cherokee's teaching method is to build relationships with each student by prescribing basic golf fundamentals to improve the skill level of each individual through visual, audio and kinesthetic learning. We provide organized lesson plans geared to specific goals of each student.

We believe the swing motion of a player's stroke is one of the most important aspects of golf. The purpose of the golf swing is to consistently advance the golf ball from point A to point B by developing a repeatable motion built on basic fundamentals. The foundation of the swing begins with the correct posture, grip and alignment. We also believe the golf swing has two key motions, the "swinging motion," which includes a lever system, and the "body motion". It is essential that these two motions work together to produce a consistent ball flight.

Fitting Approach:
Our experiences and award winning PGA Professional staff is passionate about providing the perfect fit to each client. All club fittings follow the Cherokee Fitting Formula.

PGA Professional+Technology+Ball Flight=Perfect Fit

Only after seeing the entire ball flights, we can make club specifications on length, lie, shaft flex, kick point, torque, materials and design that will optimize your game.

Fitting Sessions:
Determining club fitting specifications requires our technicians to analyze swing characteristics, impact, tendencies and ball flight patterns. All of these characteristics are unique from person to person.

Proven Fact: Only 5% of golfers fit into standard equipment

Each fitting session will last about one hour each for drivers, fairways, hybrids, irons, wedges and putters. During each session expect to hit between 70-100 golf balls.

Putting Studio Testimonials

Bob Larsen "Cherokee Flight Champion" Monona, WI
The putting analysis clearly demonstrated a flaw and corresponding compensations in my stroke. I will use the information from the analysis along with suggested drills and The Railer to improve my stroke and lower my scores.

Dick Regenberg "Madison Mid-Am Champion" Middleton, WI
One of the best tools I've been fortunate to have available. I intend to repeat the analysis and build on it. I encourage you to take advantage of the teachers and technology that we have here at Cherokee. Their combination of knowledge and interest in our games is hard to find.

Dr. Alan Rehbein   Beloit, WI
I learned more about my stroke then I thought one could. The analysis is the key. Without this information there is no way you know where your faults lie. Thanks for the great service.

Greg Wilcox (17 Handicap) Madison, WI
I really had no idea just how many facets of putting there are, and how many I was actually doing wrong. All the information I received will now be up to me to work on and improve. I am very satisfied with the analysis and looking forward to bringing that to the course.

Jim Saunders (21 Handicap) Madison, WI
A very thorough analysis with lots of tips and pointers to work on. Eye opening! The written material is also quite helpful.

Dr. Dwight Gunderson (1 Handicap) Beloit, WI
Lining up, path & posture were all changed because all three were wrong. Especially lining up using the triangle and laser device. If you aren't aimed and aligned correctly there will be too many compensations elsewhere. The tools and drills are awesome. I need to know when something goes wrong and why. This analysis will help me do this. Thanks!

Brent Mann Golf Professional Madison, WI
By far the most complete short game lesson I have ever had. Very beneficial in regards to things I was doing correctly and things I need to improve on!

Clyde Hegerfeld (10 Handicap) Madison, WI
Dennis Tiziani suggested the fitting and after getting the analysis I realized all the things relate to the full swing. The good part about starting with putting is the brain can communicate to the hands at a slower speed. Great for beginners or a professional.

Phil Ormsby (2 Handicap) Madison, WI
This was by far the single most beneficial lesson I have ever had. The impact from the experience was almost immediate. It has improved my confidence tremendously. I have gone from ho-hum pars to birdie hunting.
